AI accusations German cooperation with the State torturer

Amnesty International accused the German government in cooperation with the countries known to practice torture.Cooperation carried out within the framework of the anti-terror war.

"The Commission responded to criticism of the UN anti-torture us and directing questions to the German government and demanded an explanation. Both of the committees investigating the secret intelligence service also cooperation and exchange of information," said Imke Dierßen of Amnesty International when reading the report,as quoted by Deutsche Welle ( 11/09/2011).

Dierßen speaking as a representative of the community in the United Nations Committee against Torture in Geneva,Switzerland.Together with other human rights organizations,Amnesty International accused the German government in cooperation with the countries known to practice torture. Cooperation carried out within the framework of the anti-terror war.A commission investigator in parliament has been grappling with similar allegations. But there are still many unanswered questions.

"We assess the investigation was not independent and commission investigators also could not explain a lot of questions, because the German government did not cooperate with the commission," said Dierßen.

In addition, violation of the prohibition of torture is not just happening in the past. There is evidence that the Germans still continue to cooperate with the secret services the countries in question, said Imke Dierßen.

The human rights organizations documented a case of Uzbekistan,a country famous for its secret service torture systematically. However, investigators from the Bureau of Crime Germany (BKA) came there to interrogate a witness, was attended by Uzbek secret agent, reported Dierßen.Amnesty showed a news event.

"In the minutes it can also be read,German investigators confirmed that the witness who interrogated terror as Uzbekisatan intelligence officers entered the room. Yes, really a situation where the witness is in great pressure and German investigators continue the interrogation," said Dierßen.

Although the German government, especially in foreign policy, strongly supports the enforcement of the prohibition of torture is absolute. Many examples of good about it. But,"We are certainly becoming less credible,if at the same time in cooperation with relevant countries," a spokesman for Amnesty's criticism.

He hopes,anti-torture UN commission report will encourage the German government to give an explanation. "It is important to hold a new independent investigation, in which all the relevant documents are opened and the victims get justice,if necessary compensation, above what they experience."

It is more important in the future, said Dierßen,the German government must ensure it does not work anymore with the secret services of the country known to practice torture.Berlin also have to provide a new and more adequate guidance to intelligence officers and German investigators. Guidelines are now applicable judged no longer sufficient.

It is unclear why the name of the United States is not mentioned in the report, either by Dierßen and Deutsche Welle,as a state actor torture.Because as previously reported,Amnesty International called on the Canadian government keen to capture the former U.S.president George W.Bush as a war criminal,is associated with penyiksanaan against detainees suspected terrorists who captured the U.S. security
