Taliban shot down U.S. helicopter, 31 Special Forces Killed

A spokesman for the Taliban said it shot down a helicopter for a meeting of NATO forces attacked a rebel.

The spokesman said the rebels dropped the helicopter using a rocket after U.S. and Afghan troops attacked a house in the area Zayd Century,Wardak,where insurgents have a meeting Friday night,the Associated Press news agency reported.

Local eyewitnesses told the BBC ensure this by saying he saw a low flying helicopter,a rocket shot,burned and then crashed.
The helicopter was reportedly on his way back after an operation against the Taliban in which eight suspected militants were killed.
Led International Security Assistance Force NATO ensure an accident but have not provided details of casualties or the cause of the incident.
NATO states were conducting operations to collect the rest of the helicopter and find out the cause of the accident.They say "the enemy is operating in an area" where the helicopter crashed.
31 killed
Afghan officials say U.S.special forces 31 members and seven Afghan soldiers in eastern Afghanistan on the incident.
This is the biggest victim of the United States in a single incident in Afghanistan.
Currently there are 140,000 foreign troops - about 100,000 from the U.S. - in Afghanistan. They fought against the Taliban and to train local forces in order to secure the country.
All foreign combat troops scheduled to leave Afghanistan late in 2014,some of which have gone.
