Committee Chairman Legu Gam, Arifin Djafar in Ternate,said Thursday that an ancient Koran made from the bark,contains the verses of Al-Quran complete 30 chapters (114 letters) by wrapping a box of wood,paraded from the airport,the Sultan Babullah to Kedaton Sultanate of Ternate.
"Scripture is borrowed from the Government of Alor to be exhibited at the event Legu Gam MKR 2011.Al-Quran will be read when the parents of certain event,"said Arifin who is also Deputy Mayor of Ternate.Al-Quran was brought to the Alor ancient Great in 1519 AD by iang Gogo who go abroad with his four brothers with a mission to spread Islam to the Alor.
At that time,the Qur'an is taken during the five children sailed Babullah Sultanate of Ternate with which the history of sailboat named Ninah Tuma, meaning "Stop / Shelter moment".
Al-Quran is stored in the home cottage circa 1982,at the time,said Arifin huge fire that struck the cabin house where this old book store which destroyed the entire Bandan and contents of the house including all the relics he had brought from Ternate Gogo.
"But strangely enough,the Qur'an does not burn and the oldest to date is still preserved and intact,"said Arifin.
Previously, Al-Quran was brought by rombangan using Express aircraft.Al-Quran was paraded from the airport directly to Kedaton Babullah Sultanate of Ternate,which is about 7 Km.The oldest Qur'an was brought by the Sultanate of Ternate, and accompanied by all the sultanate (bobato).
