Britons 'cohabiting'

Figures recorded marriages in England has decreased.Even one of the six people currently living with a partner without being married alias 'cohabiting'.

Similarly, as submitted by the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) and reported by The Telegraph,Wednesday (11/30/2011).

In the ONS report, there is a trend of declining marriage rates in England, where the married couple was recorded less than 50 percent of adult population in England. While as many as 51.9 percent of the adult population living in Britain today are single, divorced, or widowed. The total adult population living in the UK in 2010 was 44.9 million people.

"One of the main reasons for decline in population is married and the increase in population is the growth of cohabitation by unmarried couples are not married," the ONS report.

Trend of declining marriage rates in England have been ongoing since the 1970s. The results of the ONS research report in 2010 showed that one in six Britons living 'cohabiting' with their partner.

"In the early 1960s,fewer than one in 100 adults in the UK population under the age of 50 is estimated to live the life 'cohabiting' at a time, when compared to the year 2010 recorded one of six residents," said the report.

Anastasia de Waal, one of the academics who do research this behavior tells us, there are a number of causes why more and more unmarried couples choosing to live 'cohabiting' with their partner. One of them is financially well-being factor.

"Surveys repeatedly show that the behavior of the majority of young people actually want to get married,it became the highest ideals for the couple who 'cohabiting'," he said.

"But in tough times, many couples who feel unable to finance its requirements - not on his marriage, but rather to things like having your own house and car. Thus, rising unemployment and cost of living in recent years in the UK may be one cause of declining marriage rates,"said Anastasia.

The ONS report also mentioned that many couples who choose divorce in old age. A total of 17.6 percent of all residents aged 53 years now divorced
