Magic carp

Two goldfish managed to survive in the aquarium after 134 days no feeding or cleaning the aquarium water. They were discovered by Vicky Thornley, owner of a goldfish that for the first time allowed back into the shattered office in downtown Christchurch, New Zealand.

Shaggy and Daphne, the names of the goldfish,it is likely to survive by eating moss or algae. They may also obtain other sources of nutrients, because three of their other colleagues are not found in the aquarium.

"When the earthquake happened,I mengenggam storage aquarium fish, both to prevent falls and broken so that I can still stand up," Thornley said as quoted by the Independent,August 1,2011."But after that, my mind was immediately drawn to my son who was not injured," he said.
Since most of the city was destroyed, just some time ago he was allowed back to visit his office."And that's only allowed one hour and under supervision," said Thornley.
Thornley said, when he did not see a goldfish aquarium because it assumes that the pet animal has been killed. But he realized when an officer called: "Hey, there are fish here and still alive."
"Immediately I was immediately shocked," says Thornley."Goldfish looked pale, but in a healthy condition.
According to Paul Clarkson, curators of the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California,United States, the goldfish was lucky to live in a big aquarium with lots of moss and algae that grow on rocks and tank walls."Since there is no electricity to turn water filter, the bacteria that grow naturally goldfish has helped keep it alive by keeping the water conditions," he said
