British child gulp 19 Alcoholic Beverage Glasses

A number of children in England aged 12 years admitted downing 19 glasses of wine a week,when questioned in a health survey.

Reported by the BBC on Sunday (10.30.2011),the results of research conducted by independent institutes Schools Health Education Unit (Shue) showed that 4% of children ages 12 or 13 years who were questioned,admitted that they consume alcoholic beverages until 28 units or more.

However,the overall trend in the survey that involved 84,000 adolescents showed,the number of teens who smoke and drink less alcohol than before.

According to the government,they raided the parties which sell alcoholic beverages to children.

The data obtained from 1,100 elementary and junior high schools throughout the UK and involved 83 724 adolescents aged 10 to 15 years.

Dr David Regis from Shue said the results showed a mixed picture of the alcoholic beverage drinking habits among young people.

"If we look at the numbers of alcohol consumption, then in it there is good news and bad at the same time," he told the BBC.

"We found the increase in the number of students who say that all their knowledge of alcohol was not for them. So the number of people who avoid alcoholic beverages meninggkat recent years. But we also see teenagers drinking alcoholic beverages, which amount may be increased," said Regis .

Data collected from students grades six, eight and ten showed that 11% of 10th graders (ages 14-15 years) consume more than 10 units of alcohol in the week before the survey.

Three units equal to 2 glasses of wine-sized 125 ml (containing 12% alcohol by volume).

According to Simon Antrobus, leader of the rehabilitation agency Addaction drug and alcohol dependence,children under age who consume alcohol are those who must be helped first.

Simon said, the habit of consuming alcoholic beverages in children usually occurs in children whose parents are alcoholics.

Smoking-related problems, just over half of children aged 14-15 years who say they have never tried to smoke cigarettes. While 95% of children aged 10-11 years admitted they had never smoked.

Cannabis is the drug most widely sampled Grade 10 students, where 15% of students said they had tried it son. While trying other types of drugs such as heroin, cocaine and ecstasy, a small percentage. In that age group, one in 10 had consumed alcohol and drugs simultaneously
