Particles Containing Flame Candles Diamonds

Researchers from Scotland managed to separate the particles from the center of the flame of a candle. The result, very surprising.

Apparently, in the coals, candles found millions of diamond particles. In one study, researchers found that at least 1.5 million diamond nanoparticles are generated every second of the candle flame.

Is Dr. Wuzong Zhou of the University of St.Andrew is located in East Scotland who conducted this research. He did the research after receiving a challenge from fellow researchers.

"A friend from another university told me, 'of course nobody knows the flame lily is actually made of."Plainly I told him that I believe science can eventually explain everything. So I decided to find out,"said Zhou was quoted as saying the page foxnews.com,Thursday,August 18,2011.

By using a new sampling techniques, Su Zhou and his student Zixue successful move particles from the center of the candle flame and found four diamond carbon constituent. "It's very surprising because each shape (the particles) are usually created in different conditions," Zhou said.

Since the wax first discovered in China about 2,000 years ago, studies have shown that hydrocarbon molecules on the fire burning and the carbon dioxide released into the top - but what happens during this process remains a mystery until now.

Like the diamond nanoparticles in the middle of the candle flame, the researchers also found fullerenic particles, along with graphitic and amorphous carbon. "Unfortunately, the diamond particles were burned during the process," said Zhou. "But this will change the way we see the flame forever."

The discovery is expected to give clues can both study how diamonds can be produced in an inexpensive way
